Common questions

How do I check a sauna venue's qualifications?+
Every listing on gymbuddy shows the practitioner's verifiable credentials with a direct link to the public register (REPs, CIMSPA, CSP, ANutr, BACP, Yoga Alliance, etc.). Click the badge to confirm membership in real time.
Do I have to pay gymbuddy to book?+
No. Each listing has a "Visit website" button that takes you straight to the practitioner's own site. We don't take a commission, gate the contact, or run booking. Pricing and payment are between you and them.
What if the website link is broken?+
We auto-check every listing weekly. If a website 404s, the listing is suspended. If you spot a broken or out-of-date link before we do, click "Report this listing" on the profile.
What's a free consult?+
Most sauna venues offer a 15-30 minute first call with no charge — a fit check, not a session. Filter by "free consult" if you want to shortlist only those who offer one.
Traditional vs infrared — which is better?+
Traditional Finnish (80-100°C, low humidity, water on stones) is the historical standard. Infrared (50-60°C, no humidity, infrared panels) is gentler on the cardiovascular system. For sweat and recovery, both work. For cardio adaptation, traditional has more research behind it.
How long should I stay in a sauna?+
Beginners: 5-10 minutes. Regular use: 15-20 minutes per round, 2-3 rounds with cold-water breaks. Drink water before, during, and after. Avoid alcohol within 4 hours either side.
