Common questions

How do I check a physiotherapist's qualifications?+
Every listing on gymbuddy shows the practitioner's verifiable credentials with a direct link to the public register (REPs, CIMSPA, CSP, ANutr, BACP, Yoga Alliance, etc.). Click the badge to confirm membership in real time.
Do I have to pay gymbuddy to book?+
No. Each listing has a "Visit website" button that takes you straight to the practitioner's own site. We don't take a commission, gate the contact, or run booking. Pricing and payment are between you and them.
What if the website link is broken?+
We auto-check every listing weekly. If a website 404s, the listing is suspended. If you spot a broken or out-of-date link before we do, click "Report this listing" on the profile.
What's a free consult?+
Most physiotherapists offer a 15-30 minute first call with no charge — a fit check, not a session. Filter by "free consult" if you want to shortlist only those who offer one.
Do I need a GP referral to see a physio privately?+
No. Self-referral is normal for private physio. Many PMI insurance policies (Bupa, AXA, Vitality) reimburse without a GP letter — check your policy. NHS physio still typically requires GP referral.
What's the difference between a physio and a sports therapist?+
Physio = HCPC-registered, BSc-level clinical training, can treat any condition including post-op and neurological. Sports therapist = sports-injury focused, qualifying body is the Society of Sports Therapists (SST) — different scope, can't always claim from PMI insurance.
